Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity
We're proud to serve the mountain areas of western Jefferson County, Clear Creek County, and parts of Park County up to Kenosha Pass. All of our homeowners are local residents, living, working, attending church, and raising children here in our mountain communitiy. They include day care providers, school bus drivers, servers, housekeepers, carpenters, hospice aids, preschool teachers, and others. Join us in fulfilling our vision for a better world.
Who Are We?
-
Our Vision
Create a world in which everyone has a decent, affordable place to live.
-
Our Mission
Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
-
Our Work
Blue Spruce is a locally based organization that depends on local funding and community volunteers to build affordable homes for local families. We also have a repairs program, and we operate the Habitat ReStore in Bergen Park to help fund these programs.
Our Principles
Blue Spruce Habitat's homes are built according to the following guiding principles:
-
Simple
Our houses are modestly sized. They are large enough for the family’s needs, but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs to a minimum.
-
Decent
We only use quality, locally available building materials.
-
Affordable
The labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building methods, modest house sizes, and affordable loans make it possible for low-income families to purchase Habitat houses.
Our commitment to build with people in need extends to those with disabilities. When possible, Habitat houses incorporate basic accessible design features, such as a zero-step entrance and wide passage doors and hallways. Houses built in partnership with families with disabilities include additional accessibility features.
-
Environmental Consciousness
Blue Spruce Habitat is committed to resource and energy-efficient building practices. All of our homes are built to Energy Star standards that help with energy conservation as well as reducing long-term costs for our homeowners
